DJ Spotlights | Michael Fernandez

Michael Fernandez: Freshman Mechanical Engineering Major from Chicago, Illinois.

On-Air DJ: Airs on Monday nights from 5-7pm

Favorite food? Chicken fingers. I’m not sure where my absolute favorite chicken place is, but I love chicken fingers from Disney.

Favorite color? Darker orange

Favorite verse? Philippians 1:6—“For I am convinced that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Favorite Resound song? Oh, man! That’s like asking me to choose between my children! But I would have to say that “Find You Here” by Ellie Holcomb. It is one of our new ones, and I think it is fantastic.

Theme of show? I try to be really encouraging to listeners in whatever I talk about. Sometimes I will talk about a story that has happened to me, or I will look up a new story and tie that into an encouraging theme. If I can’t find a story, I will sometimes even find an encouraging passage of the Bible, and read that on air.

How did you get involved with Resound? This is actually a funny story! I went to one of the million orientation things that they have for Freshmen, and someone from Resound said, “Resound is having a meeting for auditions, you should come out!” Ever since I was little, I’ve thought it would be cool to be on the radio. So, I went to the meeting and thought that I may like to audition and try it out. So I did, and I got on! I definitely want to keep doing this, I love working here. It is so fun!

What else are you involved in at CU? I am on the robotics team, and I work at the Hive.

Hobbies? Homework, mostly calculus because I’m an engineering major! I enjoy reading and playing video games too. I’m a big Zelda fan.

Life goal? To work at Disney as an Imagineer.

Random fact? I have been to Disney 10 times in my life! I actually went twice last year—once with my family, and then again for senior trip with my school. I also am Spanish royalty!

Advice for blog readers? I’m going to kind of steal this from Walt Disney: Never be afraid to pursue your dreams, because God can do crazy things in your life. Don’t listen to people who tell you your dreams will never happen.

Final thoughts? Listen to and come by Resound!! We love visitors!!
