On Air shift: Tuesday’s 1-3pm

What is your favorite….

…Food? That’s tough…. I really like Takis! Like, the little rolled tortilla chips. I love those little things. Oh! I also love craft soda.

…Color? Magenta. I liked purple, but I not, like, regular purple. I like brighter purple.

…Bible Verse? Bascially the entire book of Ezra and Nehemiah. But if I had to pick a verse, John 1:4, “In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

…Song we play here at Resound?

Sticks and Stones by Kings Kaleidoscope.

Their new album is so Indy. It’s beautiful. They recorded half their album live in an airplane hangar with a full orchestra. That album, they broke down song structure and just reinvented it and threw in some hip-hop in to their alt-rock feel. What’s that soup that’s like a mix of everything…baba ganoush! That’s it! That song is a baba ganoush of awesomeness. The album is just this great, oh my goodness, every song I hear, I can’t quite comprehend it all and it makes me want to listen to it a million times over.

What got you interested in Resound? One of my favorite on air DJs Angela Schweinitz is from Cedarville and originally worked at Resound. I really like to be able to contribute musically so the music team was my first interest. I had been doing production all through high school and a friend said “Hey, you should be on the air!” so I said, “Okay” and here we are!

Are you involved in anything else on campus? That’s a funny question. I’m in AYO, I’m in TDK (honors program student org). I run a classic movie club with Delaney. It’s called Cinema Club and we just watch old movies. I’m on PSG, so I help do chapel sound stuff and I think that’s it!

What are some of your hobbies? I actively seek out new independent artists each week, so I try to find 2-3 new artists each week to listen to. I also produce and song write my own music. I love old and long books, too. Like, the classics. Oh, and I love soccer. I played soccer all through high school, but just don’t have the time for that right now…. If it’s a hobby, I love going to concerts.

What is a goal you have for your life? I would love to do media management for independent musicians. Help with recording, videography, social media presence, help with public image, photography, touring, booking, all of it. I want to work for myself while also offering support to bands. That would be a sweet spot for me.

Is there anything you want to tell people that you don’t get the chance to on the air? There’s always somebody doing something new and different in the music world and it takes a little time to find it. The Lord has allowed us to be so creative and when we think we are at the edge of creativity and there isn’t anything new to be discovered, we find something new to do and change and be different with. You just have to go find it and discover it.

One more thing, you should come to decide what good music is for you and use that to determine how you evaluate media. So many people listen to things and they don’t think about what they listen to. You don’t need to be super conservative and have a magic list and if something gets said you just stop listening. Come to an understanding to what it’s like to live in this world combined with who God has changed you to be. How does that work together? I’m not asking you to agree with my point of view of what music should be, but come to an understanding and let that guide your judgement.
